Life at Paragon: Logistics
7 August 2017
Here at Paragon Creative, we are often working on lots of projects all at once so it’s really important that our internal teams work together to make sure everything is completed to an exceptional standard and delivered on time. As well as our talented production teams, we also have several departments that are key in delivering our world class projects. One of these teams manage the logistics of each project.
We spoke to the Department Manager about his experience in the team;
How important is the role of Logistics in the delivery of our projects?
As with most departments we feel ours is incredibly important. Without the Logistics Department people from other departments have to be taken away from what they are doing which isn’t really productive for the business. We offer a one stop shop for any project specific logistics needs which includes wrapping, packing and documentation on all project elements.
What’s the largest project piece you have coordinated at Paragon Creative?
For me personally the largest piece I have coordinated was the Watermelophant for Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (motiongate, Dubai Parks and Resorts). It weighed around 1.5 tons and was so big we had to order an open topped container as its tail stuck up above the height of a container!
Which other departments do you work closely with at Paragon Creative?
We try and work closely with all the departments to try and get a good lead time on when items are going to be finished. I’d say the two most important departments to us though, are Project Management and Production. We get a lot of our information with regards to shipping dates and items to ship from them.
What are the most important aspects of your role to you?
I think you have to be a people person. I like to try and build a good relationship with heads of departments so that you can help each other out. You never know when you might need to call in a favour or ask for some extra manpower so having those people on your side is important. I think you need to be organised and forward thinking. None of us can see into the future but if you can get a grasp on what is coming up you are one step ahead already. Flexibility is also a good trait to have. In an ideal world everything would always go to plan but we all know that doesn’t happen. The ability to improvise, adapt and overcome problems helps with that.
We’ll be focusing on one department each month, giving readers an overview of life at Paragon Creative!
