Little Explorers

Fully immersive experiential learning

Brief/Challenges:

Paragon Creative Ltd were asked to re-imagineer and evolve their Little explorers concept into the next phase of development.  We have now completed Dubai Marina and Cairo Festival City and are working on Riyadh Park and Dubai Mirdiff.  We have created over 40 different interactive products that now comprise of a catalogue of options that can be used in all future Little Explorers roll outs.

Two stores are now open in Dubai and Cairo, Riyadh is opening in July 2017 and Mirdiff opens in early 2018.  With a further roll-out across the whole of the MENA region over the next three years, MAF are bringing interactive entertainment into the retail environment with incredible effect.

With the brand appealing to children across a broad range of ages, we have created a diverse mix of themed activities from role-playing as an astronaut in the lunar base, working as a mechanic on the 4x4, exploring your physical attributes such as running speed, memory, or manual dexterity, or making a big splash in our water-play area to name only a few.

The flagship Little Explorers store in Mirdiff is due for something a little more immersive, as we bring our unique mix of skills together to form a breath-taking attraction comprising a series of linked thematic worlds, each with its own suite of open-ended activities: there are collaborative games, inspirational environments, hands-on interactives, theatre spaces, workshops, and of course, dressing up!

With the first stores opening now and more being designed and built all the time, this is a partnership which is set to roll for some time to come.

STAFF FOCUS: Tim DeCoste, Interactives Workshop Manager

Q: Name?
A: Tim DeCoste but they call me moose now there’s four Tims.

Q: What and where did you study?
A: Seaquam secondary school in my motherland of Canada. University didn’t seem challenging enough so I went to major in waterparks abroad.

Q: How long have you worked at Paragon Creative?
A: 3 years this month.

Q: What development / training have you undertaken since joining the team?
A: IOSH managing safely and the ever-important manual handling and fire warden training. And of course the sage mentoring of Jon Myers (Operations Director) and Chris Nuttall (Technical Director).

Q: Favourite Project to work on and why?
A: Dig It Dubai Springs. It was an achievable project that has resulted in a great success which is always a boost knowing the work our department put in to it, I’m sure others did OK as well. I also got to be involved in the installation, something I don’t often get to be a part of, luckily I still have my old work boots so I almost blended in seamlessly if not for my eloquent speaking and perfect hair.

Q: What do you like about working at Paragon?
A: Everyday poses a new challenge. It’s also close to home so that’s nice.

Q: Dream project to work on?
A: If we could do something ice hockey or maple syrup based I’d be very much in my comfort zone.

Q: What does your department do?
A: Builds big toys!
